Charity Commission Interim Manager appointment
23rd March 2014
Helen Harvie, in her role as Charity Consultant to Barlow Robbins LLP is appointed by the Charity Commission as Interim Manager to Kingsway International Christian Centre…
Following an investigation by the Charity Commission dating back to 2011 relating to concerns about investments made by the charity, Helen Harvie has been appoint at Interim Manager. Concerns have been raised by the Charity Commission around a decision in 2009 and 2010 by the charity’s former board of trustees to invest £5M of the charity’s assets in the financial markets without independent professional advice.
Helen Harvie’s role as Interim Manager is to assess whether the charity’s former board of trustees carry personal liability for the amounts lost to the charity as a result of the unsuccessful investments and, if so, whether the charity should seek restitution for the losses. The Interim Manager has been appointed to work alongside the charity’s current trustees, the majority of which were appointed after the problems first came to light
